Hi, I’m Joe, and welcome to Byte 4 Bite!
I’m a software engineer in Jacksonville, FL. That’s right: I’m not a chef nor do I pretend to be. I have no formal training aside from flipping burgers in high school and waiting tables in college. I’ve loved cooking for the past 20+ years, have done a ton of learning on cooking, and now I want to share what I’ve learned with you all. Whether it’s cooking for 1, to impress a date, meals for the family, hosting dinner parties and holidays, large parties, and even volunteering to cook for charity, I always manage to find myself in the kitchen somehow or another.
Originally from Texas, I now live in Jacksonville with my wife Tiffany, our children Alexander (who loves to “help” me in the kitchen) and Ashlyn, and my wife’s cat Rufus (yes, my wife’s cat).
At Byte 4 Bite, I want to help you make great food at home, from quick weekday dinners to fancier stay-in date night dinners to Sunday family meals, and everything in between. Maybe we’ll even throw in some barbecue on occasion as well :). Everything in here will be with ingredients and equipment you likely already have (or should have). On the rare occasion some specialized ingredients or equipment are necessary, then I’ll highlight those and do my best to provide substitutions where I can.
Most importantly, everything here will be food that you can make. Right now. No, I’m not kidding, you can cook anything I can. I’ll show you how.
In most of my posts, I’ll not only share the recipe with you but help teach you how to make it as well. So, most recipes will (eventually) be accompanied by video and/or text to help you from start to finish. Additionally, you’ll find a “jump to recipe” link at the top of each post if you’re in a hurry.
Welcome, and happy cooking!
